After five years of filming and editing surf films and campaigns nationally and abroad for prolific brands, Jay decided to focus on narrative, leading him to study cinematography at the Australian national film school (AFTRS) in 2014. Since graduating he has shot award-winning shorts and feature films as well as music videos, documentaries and branded content.
Jay's recent film credits include: Headless Chooks (dir. Sean Clancy Donovan), winner of Best Cinematography at Byron Bay International Film Festival 2020; Hot Mess (dir. Lucy Coleman) which had its international premiere at Seattle International Film Festival and was nominated for Best Indie Feature Film at The AACTA Awards 2020 after being picked up by Netflix; and Sequin In A Blue Room (dir.
