Jay is an award-winning freelance cinematographer who has shot three feature films by some of Australia's most recognised, emerging directorial talent: Samuel Van Grinsven's queer coming-of-age thriller SEQUIN IN A BLUE ROOM (2019), which had it’s world premiere at Sydney Film Festival where it won the 'Audience Award for Best Feature Film' and received a nomination for 'Best Indie Feature Film' at The AACTA Awards; Lucy Coleman’s mumblecore comedy HOT MESS (2017), internationally debuting at Seattle International Film Festival; James Raue’s dark comedy mockumentary PSYCHOANALYSIS (2015), winner of six awards globally including 'Best International Film' at Manchester International Film Festival
Beginning in his late teen's as a videographer for Quiksilver and Billabong, working on numerous surf films and campaigns in countries such as Tahiti, Phillipines, Indonesia, India and Japan, Jay was inspired to pursue a career in cinematography with a strong focus on narrative. This lead him to graduate from the The Australian Film Television Radio School in 2014 with a graduate certificate in cinematography.
When Jay isn't shooting films he is filming and editing campaigns and social content for clients such as Champion, Tommy Jeans and Calvin Klein nationally and abroad.
